Dear module developers, thank you once again, the module is very helpful for my web site!
I just wanted to add a hint for those who just like me do not have access to web hosting settings.
If you experience problems with right owner settings for your files with your web site hosting provider (for example, you cannot use Joomla installation menu from the Administrator back-end (Administrator->Extensions->Install/Uninstall for J 1.5), if you get this error : "Warning! Failed to move file :: Unable to find install package",
just follow these simple steps (use it in any situation you need to install component/module on your remote server with wrong file owner settings):
- download the module (mod_menucat_v2)
- install mod_menucat_v2 onto your local preprod web site (with correctly working fie permissions)
- login via FTP to your remote production web site
- copy /modules/mod_k2_menucat FROM your local preprod server TO the /module directory on your remote (production) web site
- login to the phpMyAdmin on your remote (prod) web site, choose your joomla database, find table modules, and make insert :
=== INSERT INTO `yourjoomlatableprefix_modules` (`id`, `title`, `content`, `ordering`, `position`, `checked_out`, `checked_out_time`, `published`, `module`, `numnews`, `access`, `showtitle`, `params`, `iscore`, `client_id`, `control`) VALUES(XX, 'K2 Menu Categoria Module', '', 1, 'left', 0, '0000-00-00 00:00:00', 1, 'mod_k2_menucat', 0, 0, 1, 'categoriesListItemsCounter=1\n', 0, 0, '') ===
where XX is the number of the last record in your module table (look carefully to avoid duplicated ID in the table)
That's it! Check the module position in the Administration - Extensions - Module Manager for the mod_k2_menucat
it should be enabled.
Thank you once again for the great menu module, guys :)

Unfortunately I tried many ways, with the 'Install from directory', too, this is the only way for me to install anything anyhow onto my web site :) But maybe your way will work for most of users!

Each time I try to edit a category or an item, I get an error :
" Remote server or file not found : mywebsite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_k2&view... "
Though all the items and categories are properly displayed in the list of categories / items in the K2 administration section. And I can change its status from published to not published (in the admin section), can delete items, but not to create new or change existing items.
What could that be? Maybe I forgot something? Thank you for the reply!

Ok, I'll try to reinstall both K2 and menu module. Hope the data will not be lost!
Thanks, I'll write back when it's done!

If you like, and trust me, you can send a Private Message with the url of your site and a username and password (created just for me to test) I can try to see what is causing this error. I will not damage your system, I promise!

My web site lives its own weird wild life, as it seems now :)
What seems to be a solution (it worked for couple of items) - now I can export items from the remote database to a preprod, and then do a whole export back with the working tables. :)
Joomla, sunny, you make me crazy day by day :)

1. menucat has conflict with my mainmenu - i think something in CSS, maybe :-)
2. I put menucat in COLUMN position TWO times - one after another (you can see www.itk-spb.ru/?tp=1), but it works only in first position. In a second position menucat show all list menu(the same) from first module. But i try to show different K2 category in menu. And also in second position menucat not show submenu.
Thank you for your module. And i hope for help!
