Sometimes I create an article, but need to see how it looks like front-end. I would like to reset the hits counter. I could create a new item, but then that would create a new item id, and then I would have to delete the old article leaving one id useless.

Using PhPMyAdmin I edited the record in the jos_k2_items table. Not pretty... but I changed my hit counter down to "1" and was able to retain all other information including the id.

True. This is the only way I have found to edit the hit counter as well.

And even with a reset button, I will need to do it this way. I am moving a site over from WordPress to Joomla and would like to keep the hit counts from WordPress. So I will need to edit all of them directly in the MySQL tables... As you say - not pretty, but it works :-)
