Is there anyway to amend the PHP and/or mySQL to get this to work?

Or are you suggesting that I should use a certain plugin?

I don´t know. As there are many writings about search in K2 maybe it is not possible yet.

Here it is solved in some way i don´t understand, but only for search module:

I use absolutely latest SVN, and it doesn´t work. Mybe you have some older version of K2. You have more problems then me.

This exstension highlights word when i from search come to Item. But not in the search results. Try to play wit it.

Install jak2 fillter plugin .

go to : component/search/view/tmpl

open default_results.php

echo $result->extra_fields_search ;

ok !
