I am sure this has been asked before, but I can not find it anywhere in the forums

Is there anyway to hide a category in the breadcrumbs? I have a section of my site that will be viewed at the front, but I do not want viewers to be able to be able to view its categories like they can with everything else.
I also want to hide the root category I made from the breadcrumbs since it just leads to the same information people see on my main page.
