Yes. There is a module for this:

K2 Comments

K2 Comments is a dual-function module used to display a) latest comments (from one or more categories) and b) a list of the top commenters.

nano02, you can see this in action at K2Joom at the bottom of the page, although I still need to modify the CSS for it.
There is plenty of configuration options to limit categories etc.

I'm wondering if there is a hack to make "latest comments" setting in the module K2 Comments display the comments in chronological order, as opposed to reverse chronological order...?
