Thank you Florante, a wonderful article, at the end you mention additional parameters can you give me any clues what these are? I've created a user in a user group, assigned permission to a category and everything seems to be working only when they go to post an item the tabs for the content don't give them anywhere to write? I'm sure these parameters are what i need to find and change.

Maybe I'm crazy (very probable) but where is this guide? I see that it's apparently been folded into the rest of the general documentation but I can't seem to find a link to the actual file or location. :dry:

That link is quite old and I am sure a lot of things would be somehow different by now.
