A Much Needed Enhancement for K2. was created by tmaximus95
Hi,
If only K2 could import from plain text files on one's desktop?
I have over 13,000 articles I've written on various topics, and I'd like to import the from text files on my desktop into K2. They are all plain text files.
Anyone have an idea how to do that, or can such a feature be added?
Walt.

Walt, you'll need to know the MySQL tables in order to go into PHPMYADMIN and import the data into the K2 article tables, but here is an article that might get you started if you are adventurous and willing to work at it a couple of times.
Highly suggested to use an off-line server and backup your database prior to getting started.

Thanks,
I have indeed been looking into that. I've looked at bulk importer and masscontent as well. In addition a new component has been released. FlexiContent, which looks promising, but still too limited for my use right now.
I'm wondering why no one has developed a component that will allow one to simply import a folder full of simple text files from one's desktop or the server into joomla articles. I've found some scripts that do that for other platforms, but I don't know if they could be adapted to K2, or Joomla. I may look into developing something of this nature. It would make things easier for folks with such a need.
Happy Holidays Bill.
