When I limit the number of articles to display in the user view in the global parameters configuration I get the following text on the site 'JPAGE_CURRENT_OF_TOTAL '. I have looked around to try and determine which PHP file is inserting this text and I am not able to narrow it down. If you do a search there are other demo K2 sites that are showing the same thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found the problem. I had loaded the us_en language pack. I changed the default language to the UK language file and the problem went away.
