Hi, I've tried now K2 for a while and I am very satisfied of the result. But something is borrowing me: there does not seem to have an EXPORT system to ge the K2 contnet back to Joomla content (there is of course one to import Joomla content to K2 content).I think it would be a good thing to let people try K2 and, if they don't like or if they need, to get back later to Joomla without K2.

Hi,
I have to ask, why would you want to go back to using just Joomla! articles and not have all the additions of k2?

Hi Simon,
Well, as I told, I enjoy K2. But for many reasons, someone may like to get back to Joomla contents only. For example, if he comes to use a new and essential component which is not comptible with K2.

To be honest, the time invested in exporting K2 to Joomla would then better spent patching the component that does not support K2.

Both Joomlaworks and myself and community members are actively getting support and many major component providers and supporters are assisting.

K2 is more like a core part of K2 that has been released ahead of 1.5.16, it should be integral to Joomla.

Thanks for your response.
So does it mean that in the future, K2 and (native) Joomla contents will fusion (for example in the incoming Joomla 1.6 version)?

NO, I meant that my opinion is that K2 as a Component is such a big deal for the Joomla community, that it is the kind of thing you would have expected to have come out of Joomla!

There are no plans to integrate K2, it will stay as a separate component.

Sorry for the confusion in my explanation.

I love the K2 Component alot. But my one big problem is there are still too many other components and/or modules that do not allow display of K2 articles. e.g New Item Scrollers mostly only work with Joomla Articles/Cat/Sections. Rocket Theme is better in that they integrate K2. Do you know of any nice elegant modules that work with K2? Maybe an up-to-date list of integrations on K2 site could be handy.

Sure - This List is on this forum. community.getk2.org/forum/categories/k2-extensions-for-joomla-list/listForCategory - But it would still be nice to maintain a formal list, as done by Joomlapolis for CB

You could utilize this component to import from K2 back into Joomla. It is done by way of RSS. Therefore, you must enable RSS to render the full text of the article content on the K2 side.

My recommendation, though, would be to remain where you're at in K2.

There should definitely be an easy way to get content out of K2. One reason is that K2 strips out page breaks. I'm almost finished with a large site and have a few pages that are too long. Long pages are unacceptable. Now I have to move everything back. K2 is a very good component but no component is perfect.

Hi

I have a similar issue. In my case I have written an article with multiple images in Live Writer. I exported this to Joomla via the Metaweblog API which is easily setup in the LW account settings. I then import into a K2 article. Now if I want to make any major changes to the item it would be good to do a 2 way edit between K2 and LW via XMLRPC or whatever. However, I don't think this is possible. Failing that be able to export the article back into Joomla. Editing in K2 is possible but I have to watch for session timeouts (ahhhhhh!) and I don't have access to the LW plugins.

Switching to K2 was one of the worst decisions I made for our website. Without an easy ability to revert all articles back to the Joomla core, I feel stuck in the mud. I have completely given up on asking things in the forum; either an answer takes too long, or usually not at all, or having to re-ask over and over. And I see a lot of newbies ask questions with zero response. No wonder beginners like me tend to want to run.

An export to Joomla articles from K2 items would be a lossy proposition. What would you do about attached images, videos and tags, not to mention the fact that you can have a tree of categories, where Joomla doesn't support that idea at all. What would you do with the data from any custom fields you added?

K2 was designed to address a lot of the things that are missing from Joomla articles. If I needed to do this myself, I'd go into phpMyAdmin and write a simple query to select out the needed fields and insert them into the joomla article table.

How do you do this? I've got 300 articles to move back to the joomla core. I'm not php savey at all so how would I go about doing something like this, all I care about right now is the article title, the article, the meta data, and the number of hits the article has had if possible.
