I have to select the category every time.. I think the category is suposed to automatically be selected from the list as the "Add a new item in this category" link gets clicked.Any ideas?

Nope. It uses the standard "add item" link. I took a look at the code and did not see a way to pass the value of the category.

Perhaps there is a way with a plugin?

Is there really no way to fix this?? :( Major issue for me!
