There is a guide on K2 that covers both of these, have you tried them?
Do you use any k2 template over rides?

In V2.3svn, link to the K2 language file have been improved as some were hard coded.
Quick fix would be to change the text in the language file and remove it completly, this will still leave the block of code in place.
Next best idea would be to remove or comment out the block of code completely if you never plan to want it on the site.

thanks a lot, would try this out

the hosting provider gave this reason,
not able to replace the files via FTP before this because the few folders and files were created by the webserver via PHP scripts, so any replacements would have to go via that route (webserver/php).

but they somehow helped me changed permission and alter the helper.php for the k2 estore part, which was useful.

but my immediate neccessity is to change permission for the category.php and k2.css to help me do two things as per your K2joom tutorial
1. to erase the word children categories
2. to get the text wrap around images.

only these two priorities are testing my patience, but k2joom being my bible, still i have hope

thanks simon, would just send you pm for just two or three files thats all, i just need to go thro all the k2joom old links to find out which files like category.php etc.
k2joom gets more beautiful day by day, the changes so fast that i am not able to keep track of all the old links.
