Exporting content from K2 was created by Andrew Brine
Hi Everyone,I am new to using K2 and am currently building my website locally onto my machine at home until ready to launch it to the web. Is there any way to export all of your k2 content so you can then import in onto a live site?I did find a k2 component that will allow me to import information which looks very promising. Thanks in advanceAndy

If you pack your DB to release your site on the web the K2 Tables will be included too.
You dont have to import them.
This should be helpfull.

Thanks for your replies, I was thinking about just importing the local version of the database though I was looking for a tool to do that. There is a tool in joomla that allows you to export all of your content into a csv file though I am not sure if that will work for k2 content.
How do you mean "pack your DB to release"?

You said you build your Site and the content on your local Machine. So you have to backup your local Database and import it on your live site. Thats what I meant. In this Backup the content of K2 will be included.

Excellent. thats what i thought you meant. Though I do know how to do that, I was hoping to go down a not so technical route. Cheers Andy

Hi Andrew,
Just to throw a bit of a curve ball, but will help.
Before going live, create some additional user accounts.
The user ID62 if the default set by Joomla for admin access and is used as an exploit.
By having you main Admin with a different ID, will make it a harder to access.
Consider changing your database table name from jos_ to something else.
Again, jos_ is the default set, name its to something else such as adw_ just makes it harder for exploits.
These will be some new guides added to simon.getk2.org shortly, inspired by Brian Teeman and Fotis.
Regards,
Simon
