Is there a way to create a menu link that points to all the authors. Just like the module, but this time sort of a component link. I don't want to insert modules into items.

Try this
Create a K2Tools Module - name it authors
position = authors
functionality = authors list

Create joomla article - Authors
use {loadposition authors} in the content

Create a menu link Article Layout to Authors

use firebug to figure out the formatting changes you need
