Image height was created by Francis Darren
Is there a way to control the height of the main image for each item (article)? Right now, my pictures look fine if they are of a landscape orientation. However, my portrait pictures don't look good because they appear to be of the same width as the landscape oriented pictures but are appearing way too "tall". I would like the height of the portrait oriented images to be the same as the width of those which are landscape oriented.

You have to play with administrator/k2/models/item.php, here you have all the images params.
Choose the images you want to change "Xlarge, small...." and add a class like "$handle->image_y = 200;" its a height of 200px.
You have all class you can use in : administrator/k2/lib/upload.php.

I think there is a slight bias for big blogging pics in K2.
I cant solve this one completely but I will be posting some modified xml and template files soon which will offer image alignment control, smart height (not for this issue but for caption spacing), and also custom attachment titles and attachment ordering. ....

I have the same problem.

It would be really nice if the Image Settings parameters could constrain BOTH height and width to the given value. This would me much more realistic for real-world situations. When I use especially tall images, it really messes up the layouts, especially in Catalog Mode.

Perhaps the resizing tool that uses GD could be configured to accomplish this. Resizing the image by scaling it in HTML is obviously not a preferred method.

Also, it would be nice to have the ability to toss the original images on import after all the different K2 sizes are generated. This would protect against un-savvy users who import galleries of large images, requiring unnecessary, burdensome storage requirements on the server. (i.e. after a 4MB file has been uploaded and ripped to 800px, for my purposes, the original is no longer needed).

You can see my solution to this issue here: www.zandergraphics.net/studio-blog/k2-images.html

I agree it would be better to do this in the resize process itself, but this works nicely until they manage to work a solution into the core.
