Any idea how I can clean up my site after development. I had a bunch of categories deleted but they are still causing issues with 404 errors in google. Which will hurt seo.I am assuming they are cached somewhere. I have no idea how do fix this.Suggestions?

Ouch, you should have done it locally, or stopped google from indexing your dev site using the robot.txt file. You can make 301 redirects in the .htaccess to which ever place you want the links to go to. There are also extensions for redirecting urls, but I havented used them extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/url-redirection
