e-mail button fails with com_mailto error message was created by Arnold Thompson
I have the email button and Print button checked to show on my K2 Items.
When I click on the email I get the following error. The Joomla email
button worked fine before I installed K2 and imported the K2 items from
Joomla. And I can send emails in the Joomla Mass Mail fine. I have no
idea what this error message means from the K2 e-mail button... I
tested this in Firefox and Chrome.
Not Acceptable

could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use
an Error Document to handle the request.
Also, I see no icons for the Item email & print, only words can be
displayed. Do you have an icons display option? And I see no PDF icon
either which the Joomla Articles has all of the above while K2 appears
to not have. For multi-lingual sites the icons are more universal.

Hi. This is not a K2 problem. This is probably caused by the SEF extension you are using. Try to disable it and see if that works.

You pointed me in the right direction. I will need to find a work around or plug-in for sh404SEF which is one of the most popular SEF components for Joomla. sh404SEF also has security features and Meta data features while also providing SEF advantages so I hate the idea of turning it off. I tried just skipping the K2 component in sh404SEF but no luck.

My feeling is that K2 needs to be careful about creating URLS that are more standard. The email URL that is produced is chaotic with '&', '%' characters that obviously would break SEF rules.

I do not believe there is a solution to the broken email button. It is definitely a K2 issue where the URL produced by the email button is so badly formed that SEF programs are unable to handle it. This is bad for K2. I suggest staying away from K2 because I have found many references to SEF problems because of the way K2 handles URLs.

This is very disappointing because K2 should be more professional in it's coding standards. Now I cannot trust it because of all the problems I have found listed on the Internet forums and Google. Damn these invertebrates.
