When new users sign up for my site, they are not put into the default usergroup, therefore are unable to use the comments.  To activate them to the registered user group I have to go into each account and set mail or female on the account then hit apply.

 

Any help as to why this is not working would be greatly appreciated.

 

Also, when a user signs up they signup via my forums, so I am not sure if that might make a difference, we're using the jfusion bridge.

In K2 parameters, there is a setting that says "Enable K2 User Profile" - you want this to be "Yes" - otherwise, it looks like K2 doesn't assign the user into the default K2 group.
