Hi everybody. After searching among a lot of business components, for Classified Ads, comments and Directory, I discovered CCKs and K2.

After a test of other CCKs, I would like to know, before diving in K2, if its possible to build a categorized Directory, with dynamic fields according to the category selected (hotels informations are not the same as restaurants or shops) ?

 

Is it also possible to design back-end interfaces for ads, managing expirations and sending automatic emails before expiration (I'm a developper) ?

 

In a word, should I continue with business components, or should I design "mine" with K2 ?

You can create extra field groups affected to one or more categories.

In each extra field groups, you can add specific fields with different types.

For ads, why do you need to implement them in K2 ?

1) is it possible to have multiple extra fields groups in one category ?
Ex: global extra fields for all categories + specific extra fields relating to category.

2) For small ads, the idea is to use a CCK to personalize content according to category, like for a Directory, but with more customisation than with a dedicated component.
But once Forms are designed, management is to be done : expirations, automatic emails before expiration, ...
I'm wondering if K2 can be tuned for that ?
