I cant get child items to show up when doing category listings or using k2 tools modules even if I select the proper option. It only shows the proper results when I select all the subcategories as well.  This isn't ideal since I add categories often and then I have to go back and reselect new categories for things. Is it possible because it is only looking one level deep?However, when I select module placement using advanced module add-on, and i tell it to place modules on children items, that does find the children and places the module there.
