Does K2 use Jomsocial / CB in community.getk2.org to get my page, invite etc ? 

Else what are the extensions used to get a community type feature?

The K2 community site is currently running on Ning, not Joomla.
You would need to speak to ning for further information.

There are plans for a new Joomla K2 community site, so stay tuned.

I would recommend SocialEngine instead of Ning. Way more control over the site styling and construction, as powerful as FaceBook and a whole lot cheaper than Ning.

Thank you for the reply ( I was on a holiday and couldn't reply sooner).

Its great to know that K2 is going to come out with a community site too..wow!

As of now for my directory, I was planning on integrating Jomsocial and Jreviews. So that the comments can link to user profiles....and favorites etc.

not sure if k2 has a search module/plugin...but its ok

yup.. Ning again.. i totally get why, because running a social nets not easy, but but but.. hardly showcases the tech being punted out...
