Holy moly I watch the K2 video and I think OMG this is going to make my site amazing because look at all the amazing examples.  ERRRERRRGGGHHHHH SCREEECHHHH Brrrggghhckckkkk.  NO.  

 

I see what this can do but where the hell are the directions for the rest of us?  The video's go into the very superficial surfaces of what this product can do and it is silly. 

 

Here is an idea, why don't you take a sample joomla site, and do a sample joomla page with text images and video. 

 

Show us how to make a menu correctly to point to our things and start from there. 

 

 

You click on the tutorial link via the K2 environment and all it does is bring you here. 

 

Come on if you want this to take off give some support and help

Have you seen the button just above the avatars on the homepage (ohloh)?
There are 2 developers - This is FREE.
There are a few more than 7000 members here - all either trying to learn to use K2, customize K2, or create add ins-addons, integrations with other components, and custom templates.

Amoung the 7000 or so members there are people like me, learning K2/Joomla, those new to k2 and/or joomla, and a good number of developers who make their keep programming for people and companies.
Quite a few problems have been solved, and a lot of questions have been answered. There is a rich knowlege base here if searched correctly. A sister site simon.getk2.org/k2-documents has a lot of docs as well as tips and tricks on it.

As you typed K2 has bells and whistles that take Joomla to a level that is amazing - Just think of trying to present users with a simple way of entering articles with attachments, galleries, and videos with the default install of Joomla 1.5 or even what i have seen of 1.6.

We probably would not be here if Joomla's core did what we want in the first place.
K2 acts the way it does because it was programmed to act and work the way it does. Although we may not know the reason, or it may not do what we want it to do, we still have really a really neat 25 thousand or so lines of code to work with. I like it, and say thanks again to the developers who wrote and support K2. {end of rant}

This and other sites have the same problem. PUT OTHER PEOPLE IN CHARGE of some things. I get you when you say this is free and built by a limited number of people. But half ass only gets you half an ass. For example Photoshop is an amazing program but I can GUARUNTEE you that if the 1,000,000 tutorials were not out there PS would not be as popular as it is today.

Lets be real too. K2 is not free... The time and energy spent is many many hours figuring it all out. and at the very end when you start trying to put content to site you see that there are some PLUG IN's that K2 wants you to go and pay for.

Ok ok ok I get it, not a problem as I can live with that. But here is a problem What in the Kricky is wrong with creating 1, ONE, 1, ONLY 1 tutorial that covers everything from head to toe and actually shows a live example of how a cool site page is done?

This would SAVE HOURS and so much time and would make it VERY popular so that EVERYONE would use it and then MORE people would purchase the "PLUG-IN's". This is simple marketing 1o1.

Now, I don't want to rate recipes so I have no use for yoothemes but I will tell you that K2 should be a little more giving and thus COMPLETE when it comes to having people learn this material without waisting 10's of days.

And another thing, that link you gave, that is what one of my complaints are... The whole deal that they have tutorials and videos is complete rubish. They have 1 video that is so surfacey it isn't even funny.

Let some of the users on here that know the system in and out give a quick tutorial and post here and on youtube and you would see downloads would go through the roof. and thus sales.
