As stated: the "read more" line divider causes text above the line to be bold.  any fix for this?

You can modify the k2.css after using firebug to find the proper code to change.
If you want to preserve the default behavior use a k2 subtemplate and css4k2
Also, Posting a link to your page so people can look at it will be helpfull
