How to change the default image size for category displays such as this...

The uploaded image is 440 x180, and no matter what size I upload, it defaults to this really small thumbnail...what do I edit to change the thumbnails please.

Go to the category you are working with, look at Category Item Layout and change the one that says xtra small to small or medium and see if that will fix it for you

thank you,william...these are not category items, these are sub-categories and their column display is determined through the 'category view options/sub category handling... I cannot find how to change this default thumbnail size for the sub-category displays...is this handled within a php file?

Found the answer to "how to change category thumbnail default size"...
Go to "categories"...open the "parameters" (upper right)...change the 'category image width' to desired width...make sure to 'save' at top of interface.
You will have to remove existing category images, than re-insert images to change size...this will not change existing category thumbs, so i assume you may change sizes for different categories without worrying about existing category thumbs, which should remain unchanged.......
