Hi,
I want to setup a microblogging site for a few people on one joomla install.

Ideally the site woud have the following features:

1. Each Blogger has their own template
2. each user has their own domain or subdomain e.g. www.user1.com or user1.blog.com
3. blog.com would display info and stats for all users
4. A header like blogspot or templating websites to switch between bloggers

I can already see how I can get point 3 working from the get go since this is built into K2. I read through the templating section and I think I can manage that part.

My biggest stumbling block is point 2 and point 4.

Any ideas?

I think that the use1.blog.com will require a seperate joomla install because the servers are usually setup that way

in my server blog.com loads /var/www/vhosts/www/blog.com/httpdocs/index.php
and
user1.blog.com loads /var/www/vhosts/www/blog.com/subdomains/user1/httpdocs/index.php

you may find a way to rerite with .htaccess but i think it will be complicated

Thanks for the reply. Jooblog looks interesting but it seems I have to purchase it for $20 and purchase jomSocial as well for at least $99. I don't have a budget for this project :( at least not yet.

as for the subdomains, I going to redirect the domains to the users profile url on blog.com. i think that will be easiest.

I think this would allow me much flexibility as far as the templates and domains are concerned. gonna give it a try early this week.
