it looks like this has something to do with it (ive looked at the URLS and on the pages i want it has....Itemid=103 at the end)

Itemid=103

does not show on the other pages that dont have the required layout, does this help matters?

No mate, didnt figure it out, had no feedback from here either, so gave it up as lost cause. Also noticed that sometimes it would take hours for new K2 items to be visible on the site, rarely instanty.

Ive switched off sh404, created a new unpublished menu with all K2 categories in and cleared out all cache memory and have it 65% working now so will update here I find a full fix.

I do however need sh404 :(
