K2 Link item plugin was created by Jiliko.net
Hi,
In Attachment the 'Link item' K2 plugin installation.
This plugin enables to link a K2 item to another and to display linked item information in the current item details.
Just install, enable & configure the plugin.
You can override plugin parameters for each linked item. Just edit a K2 item IN BACKEND and link another one to id with custom options.
This plugin only works in backend.
You can override the default template by copying the file
'plugins/k2/linkitem/default.php' to 'templates/YOURJOOMLATEMPLATE/html/plg_k2_linkitem/default.php'
This plugin will also be available on jiliko.net in the week.

Hi Olivier,
Wonderful extension.
However, in category view, I can only get the first item to display the link items.
Subsequent items do not show the link items.
Any reasons?
Setup is a newly installed Joomla 1.5 with only K2 and link item plugin.

Is this plugin still developed ? Joomla 3.0 gives blank page at front (Admin is OK).

Hi,
Per customer request, we've ported the original K2 Link item plugin to Joomla 3, and reviewed the original source code to be compatible with both Joomla versions 2.5/3.
Now, we are publishing and providing support for the extension here:
XT-K2 Link Item

Thank you for the original source code!

Heh, to late. When i needed it.
But anyway i am thankful that such plugin didnt exist, and that many more didnt exist. Now i have at least 20 Wordpress plugins for this type of job.
Why is Joomla so hard and difficult for gifted and excellent coders, third party developers ? Still mistery for me.

Wordpress has been always boring to me. Looking into the codebase is always messy. Don't get me wrong. It works. But ... ;)

I do understand you, i was Joomla fanatic not so long ago.
I cannot care less how code looks. All i know i can achieve much, much more with WP than i could with Joomla. And my clients are very happy. Let them as Editors in Admin panel and they almost dont need any screenshots and tutorials.
Let them in Admin to use K2 and you have to answer boring emails for days.
Some list of problems that are distant past for me now:
- No more seraching for months to get simple page break to work with K2.
- No more tweaks for images resize, that stop to work with each new K2 version.
- No more thinking about SEF and articles.
- No more thinking about what to do with J articles. Should i hide it with CSS. No, i put there stupid "About us" and say to clients it is normal this way, so do it man.
- Have now unlimited custom fields, can show them where i want, how i want. Not as before, only in K2 micro cosmos.
- Have repeater field(s)
- Admin panel is almost 100% consistent. Clients dont walk around to Joomla native design, K2 very speciel design, then they jump to some "editors choice" gallery addon, and they look around as they are suddenly on the Mars. Everything looks different than rest of Admin panel. It is more standard in Joomla, then exception.
Etc...etc..cant remember everything.
Now when Drupal 8 is on the door, joomla is going to get hard hit. Already is losing users. As i said i dont care about smart talk about code. Why it is not more developers as you and more plugins as in this topic. That need to be explained, not talking silly talk about "fancy and clean code".
