Hi folks - 

I am working on a personality listing sort of a web where people would be allow to post articles, images and videos against a personality (K2 Category)

I have played around with Joomla for creating separate category for each separate person. Now

1- From frontend, how can I allow the users to submit articles/posts related to that category(personality)
2- Upload any images/videos as well.?

3- I should be able to moderate those before they are accessible to public. 

Any ideas, suggestions in this regard would be highly appreciated.

You will have to create user groups depending on those categories. Then you should assign each member to the user group you want to have access to write in. To each user group you will set the parameters you want for them, such the one you are mentioning above about the publishing part.
To limit the tabs they will see, only Images, Videos, etc., you will do it from the K2 general parameters where you will have to enable the frontend editing as well.

Ok, so i can create user groups and assign them permissions to post items in a specific category, but, i would have to manually add the users to specific groups after they get registered, right?

Yes, you will have to do the assignment manually I'm afraid.
