I am working on a catalog type site and would like to have multiple ways for customers to get to a given product.

I understand that I can't assign an item to more than one category so my idea would be to create a dummy item or category that when clicked on would bring up a list of related items. Like shop by brand vs shop by category vs shop by style.

Any bright ideas on how to achieve this?
