K2 Default search module parameters??? was created by Stephen Longville
Hi there,
Our site (cannot link) uses the default search feature (search box) from module functionality to search the site, but despite my efforts I cannot get it to search only a specific category and its items. (it doesn't search the entire site it seems, but most of it (when only the 1 category and items within are needed)

all the options (such as "select root category" etc... don't seem to change the results much, and I have read about more effective search extensions, but the majority of them you have to pay for (and we are a not for profit social enterprise).

Any suggestions or help as to why i cant do as i need to?

Thanks.
Take care,
Steve.

Hi, to update the situation, it seems that the search is searching through ALL K2 categories, when it's been told (i think at least) to search one specific category and it's sub categories.

Anyone have any insight? is there a specific combination of parameters that need to be set?

I appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Take care,
Steve.

Anyone? I'm looking at the template for item.php wondering how in the world it accesses the item (and manages to use "$this" without declaring a class).

Is what I need to do even possible?

unfortunately the company i work for is a not for profit social enterprise, so we're preferably looking for a free solution (there are some nice looking search modules out there but unfortunately, (like the one you linked) are not commercial (or free).

Thanks for the reply though, and disregard my previous post, i mixed up forums (this is what i was trying to do with that post: forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=428&t=566137 )

Thanks,
Keep the help coming :).
