I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out and also had discussions with the support team at JoomFish.I use JoomFish to translate and all is well for menus, frontpage article. I just installed the latest K2 version today also.

Brukeragent(translated useragent): Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10)
* Database version: 5.1.51-log
* memory_limit from your phpinfo tab: 128M

Why don't you try with Joomfish 2.1.5?
It should be available for everyone...
