I have set up some user groups.
1 in particular for manufacturers.
Manufacturers will add articles about there new products, etc.
I have the users who are in the manufacturers group set as Authors.
If a manufacturer logs in the front and and adds there own article, the article displays correctly and avatar shows up, in the article at the bottom and on the k2 content module.
If I as an administrator add an article on there behalf, select the auther in the dropdown box and give an author alias. the article displays with no avatar.
In content module the placeholder avatar shows up, in the article nothing about the author shows up.
There articles are all going into the same manufacturer category, which is set to display avatars, in item view and in the content module.
As above if the article is added from the front end while logged in as the manufacturer all display good
