How to approve checked out items was created by Sebastian van Greunen
Hi everyone
I have enabled frontend item creation, but with admin approval of all submissions before publishing. Here is the problem:
When a logged in user adds a new item the admin has to edit it to check for typos etc. If the user is still logged on to the site, then the item is 'checked out' (a lock icon appears) in the admin area so it cannot be accessed. The item can only be edited in the backend when the user logs out from the frontend.
My user group setting does allow for 'edit own items' which I have tried to deactivate, btu the problem persists.
This seems to be rather counter productive & I was hoping that someone has a solution.
Thanks

Whether the user is still logged in should have nothing to do with keeping the article checked out. Once an article is saved and closed it is checked back in. I do this all the time when changing between Firefox and IE for testing and once the article is closed it is checked in.

@Terry. Nope mine does not seem to behave this way. If a user adds an item & saves it then I am unable to access the item in the admin backend until the user has logged off. Any ideas as to why?

Just to be clear, the user saves and closes the item. The item is checked in when the modal is closed.
Have you modified form.php? Is this a new install or an upgrade? What editor are you using? If you do a global check-in after the author has saved and closed do you see the item get checked-in? Are you using any other plugins with K2?

Hi Jay
If you go to Joomla > Tools > Global check-in it will 'release' all these locked items. It is an extra step, but it works for me.
