Hi Friends !!Please ... I have a question ...

 

I can do an EXTRA FIELD GROUP, and inside I can put different ExtraField.I can add this ExtraFieldGroup to a Category ...In this way, all the items in that category will show that "n" extrafield in that group ...

 

This is clear to me ...

Now ... 

 

What I need to do is something a bit different and, I suppose, very obvious and easy ... 

I want that in ONE item category, different items can have different ExtraField ...But I cannot do this ... I do not know why !!

I want to do, for instance

 

ExtraField 1: Partner 1 for a particular task, wich I discuss in item 1, for instance ...

ExtraField 2: Partner 2 ...

ExtraField 3: Partner 3 ...

 

Then in the items 1, 2 and 3 (of THE SAME CATEGORY) ...

I want to assign:

ExtraField 1 (and ONLY ExtraField1) to the Item n° 1

ExtraField 2 (and ONLY ExtraField2) to the Item n° 2

ExtraField 3 (and ONLY ExtraField3) to the Item n° 3

ETC ETC ...

 

The problem is that extrafields are determinated by groups and thery are assigned to items by categories ... But I do not want to make different categories .. just 1 ... with different partner for different tasks ...

ok, you have to specify another group for this item. there is only one group for each item. so you have to define for any of the differing items a new group - i think.

hope I got you right... you have three parts which are responsible for asigning extra fields: categories, extra field groups and extra fields.

For each variation of extra field groups you have to create an new group. this group is assigend to a category. so if you want to assign a group to a category it has to be created for that category. it should be possible to create different groups for the same category, isn't it?

1 category -> 1 group only ...

That's the problem !! :(

right, ok - it is not possible to asign more than one extra field group to a category. asigning the group makes it available to the item in the category. you have to create for each different display of extra fields another group - even if there is only a marginal change within on field.

How can I do this ?? What do you mean by: create another group ... By the way, I CANNOT assign different groups inside one category ...

no, you can't assign different groups to one catgegory - that's true. what i mean is you have to create for each category one extra field group. inside this group you can store your extra fields. the items must fit into one of these categories i think.
