I downloaded k2 for Joomla 1.5 from getk2.org and installed K2 v2.4.1 on Joomla v1.5.23.  The install appeared to be successful.  I proceeded to add fields with no issue.  Then, when I attempted to add categories, I encounter the following error:

 

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 49

 

I attempted to access the code to determine cause, but I found the tables directory is missing completely.  I'll phrase that a little differently... the tables directory is missing completely from the com_k2 directory.

 

I read through the forum at community.getk2.org/forum/topics/error-on-category-creation, which covers the same issue, but there was no resolve for user who have their sites hosted.  I do not have access to my server so I can not make the changes mentioned in that post. 

 

Has there been any update to k2 to resolve this issue for user that do not have access to their server?
