im new to joomla and have just launched my first site. i have read countless information about the importance of permissions and thier ramifications regarding securtiy to ones site. the common guideline is folders set to 755 and files 644. however in doing that it limits functionality to components and extensions installed on the site.

 

so is their one definitive guide for k2 permissions?

what folders set to what permission?

what files set to what permissions?

 

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thx for the quick reply but when i do set everything to those permissions i cant attach any document to an k2 item.

ok let me get this straight...if i change my permissions to the recommended 755 & 644 through ftp and my site becomes useless i have to change my server configuration.

 

exactly what type of server config are we talking about?
