limit K2 categories on the frontend

Here is my problem. I have users groups set to enable frontend editing on ALL categories (including sub categories). on the frontend form I would like to only show the 1ST LEVEL categories. Is there a way to maybe hard-code the list of category id's in a select box on the frontend form?
