404 on new K2 item

I added menu items to let the user add an item at the front end, but the URL gives a 404. I have Joomla 2.5.4, SEF is off.
First I think the URL was just /mynewitem, now it appears to be /index.php/mynewitem
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Jerry

I have cleared the cache, but that changed nothing.
Uninstalling k2 - I assume you mean re-installing it right away, or else that menu item won't do anything... How much is going to be lost of the categories and fields I have added when I uninstall and re-install k2?
I also installed k2fields, haven't done anything with it yet, though.
thanks

Ah, that's something else... I haven't made any K2 User Groups yet. Didn't realize that was necessary.
And it works! :) Unfortunately, Next thing I get is this:
Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/MYNAME/domains/MYNAME.MYSERVER/public_html/olv/components/com_k2fields/helpers/utility.php on line 95
k2fields installed but not used yet. Anyway, the original problem has been solved, thanks!!

Lefteris Kavadas wrote: As the error states the issue is coming from another component not K2. So try to ask for help at their forums.
Sorry my statement sounded like a question - I did realize this was a k2fields error and not a k2 error and was not hoping to get help on that on this forum.
Thanks for the help on the original issue, though, much appreciated!
