Hi,

I am new to Joomla! and K2. I've got a freelance job building a news portal with Joomla!, and stumbled upon K2, without which I have no idea how I would implement the requirements. Excellent component!

Well, what happens is this: I have to give a certain usergroup ("Espaço Comunidade") the permission to publish items only in a certain category ("Blog da Comunidade").

I followed this tutorial to get this done:

I edited the usergroup settings to display only that category in the content editor.

Then I added a test user and put it on the "Espaço Comunidade" usergroup.

I opened another browser and logged in as the test user, but the content editor shows all categories, when it should display only "Blog da Comunidade".

When I choose another category (that should not appear) and save the item, it shows no warnings or errors and the item is displayed on the front-end.

I am using the latest version (2.5.7) of K2.

Check the K2 User group permissions again. Give the group permissions only for the specific category. Finally ensure that the user is assigned to this group.

Are you sure? Can you post a screenshot of the permissions page for the specific group?

Hi,

These are some relevant screenshots:

They are in brazilian portuguese; I don't think this is a problem, but I can translate it if you need.

As you see, the K2 item editor still shows all categories. I can choose any of them, and save the item with no problems or warnings.

I really hope this is not a stupid lack of attention of my part; I've rechecked this error at least 5 times.

The permissions apply to front-end editing not in backend.

Sorry for the delay answering your reply.

Let me see if I understood: the permissions settings on the K2 "Edit user group" screen apply only to frontend editing, is this right?

If yes, is there a way to limit the categories that appear at the backend editing screen? I really need this feature, because the website will have a very limited kind of editor group.

Hi. This cannot be done. But as far as i remember someone in this forum has achieved something similar with a little of code. Try to search this forum.
