site was fine yesterday ......site has been built for months .. today everything under k2 items is gone... categories , tags, comments, users, and everything else is there .. this happened on 2 sites at the same time, the rest of the joomla install is fine .. both site are on same server but different databases.

The Solution:

In phpMyAdmin:
1. Select the database in use
2. Click to browse the table "jos_k2_items"
3. Click on "SQL" tab
4. Type "REPAIR TABLE jos_k2_items" in the query box and click on 'Go'.

The query box should now tell you that the action has exectued successfully.

Just make sure the table name is correct ...
