After some playing about the home page of samfordwriters.org/ is looking OK with two columns. I wanted three but if I select 3 I just get a big blank third column. I really wanted the news and story items to share the columns and just have the most recent item at the top though. I liked the original Joomla 'featured' behaviour but I can't see an easy way to emulate that and as its a small site I can live with everything appearing for now.

It looks as though each column is being used for a category - is that what is intended?

On the News and Story pages I wanted the items to appear in two (or three) columns but I have the same problem. They work as one column however I mess about with the settings spread (in a confusing way) across the menu item and the category, I just add blank columns rather than getting the items to use all of the available columns.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but google and search have not rescued me.

What am I doing wrong?
