Template Override issue: not working.... was created by Dutch Lupa
Hi there,
I have been looking for answers for some days on my issue, but cant find it.
I made a website in Joomla 2.5.6.
I added K2 to it.
I added multiple categories to it.
I made my own template.
Then i make 2 types of items: default items and news items.
I made template overrides in my own template, and changed the default template to my requirements. I also changed the news template to my requirements.
I want the default items to be displayed in the default template: this works
I want the news to be shown in a different view: funny:
The latest_item and the latest views, it uses my template override from news. (great, no problem).
BUT when you click on a news item title, you go to the item itself: then the DEFAULT template is used, and not my news-template override.
Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong here?
The items are all in the news categorye
The news category has the news template selected....
I am bald from pulling my hairs out.....

Try putting your K2 override in the html directory of your default template (in a previous version of k2 on j1.5) i saw an instance where the override was picked up from the default template when using more than one template on a site and selecting the second template for one menu choice

Hi William,
The override is here:
www.mysite.com/templates/mydefaultemplate/html/com_k2/news
(the other default is also there: www.mysite.com/templates/mydefaultemplate/html/com_k2/default )
The weird thing is that in category view, it picks the right (news) template, but in detail view, it does take the default template...
Take a look here:
adelheid-showjumpers.com.testbyte.nl/en/nieuws
when you click the news item, it takes the default template, where it should take a different one
(i put the template names above the articles, so you see them)
Thanks very much for your concern!

I Am afraid this topic has died out...
Even though it should not be a hard thing to realise, i do not manage to get the right template being used. Can it be a system hick-up, where it matters in what order things are installed? Should I somewehere check in the database? Are there general ways to check where the template is called, and to check if that goes right?
Thanks in advance!

Hi. Have you set up the category "News" to use the "news" template you made? Also are you sure that you have placed it in the correct Joomla! template? You can also take a look at the relevant section in K2 documentation.

Yes I did check and check again:
I have the overrides in th ecorrect Joomla template
I have set the NEWS category to use the NEWS template
I have set the module to use the NEWS template
It works when I use a button for news. It does not work from th emodule.
This is weird, because it should not be this hard....
