Customize front end editing. was created by Ivan Tan
Hello K2, loving your added functionalities that K2 brings to the website!
Thanks for developing such a great component!
I have a question, is there any way to edit the template of front-end editing for normal registered users?
I would like them to have some options such as title alias and the toggle sidebar feature "removed" or hidden from them?
Would be great if I can get a response as soon as possible! :) TIA!

Hi Ivan :)
File you want to edit is: components/com_k2/templates/default/itemform.php
Best option is to make override, in your template folder there should probably be folder html, create new folder if it doesn't exist inside called: com_k2/default
copy itemform.php inside it and edit as you like....

I'm also looking to change frontend editing. My problem is that I don't want it opened in modal window.
I want to open it standard, in component block.. Does anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks

@Ivan Tan
Follow Ivan's instructions.
@Ivan
If you do not use the modal you will have a lot of issues since the editing is tighted to the modal. If you however insist to do that you can remove the 'class="modal"' from the edit links.

Sorry for piggy backing on this post :)
When we do a template override for the FE editing form and link it to a menu item, you have the option to select a template and when i select my sub-template, the intended form layout gets displayed.
However, when im logged in using the K2 User Module, and go to My Page link, clicking on the post new item will load the default form in the modal window and not from the template.
How can i load the template form and not the default form when adding new item or editing item from the My Page user area ?

Unfortunatelly there is no clear way to do this. You need to make checks on the template override and then load the corresponding file.

Hi Lefteris, can you explain a little more... I managed to have frontend form (for adding items) but it's opened in new window, it would be great to have all menus, and modules...
Is that anyway possible?
Thanks.

@Lefteris Kavadas
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what i did but i remember clearing cache and loading remote copy of jquery and it seems to work now. When i go to my page link from the K2 user module -> click on Add new item, it does load the template override form
Now, only the menu item for the form does not open in model popup :( it opens a new window without navigation.
