Hi,

I have Joomla 2.5 and K2 2.5.7 installed. My question is about extra fields added AFTER an item is created. So, let's say you have an extra field group A and it is associated with an Item. The Item displays all fields in the front end fine.

Then you add a new extrafield to the group A with a default value. The expected behavior (at least for me) would be that the extrafield shows up on the frontend. In the backend when you open the item you see the new extrafield but it is not displayed in the front end until I save the item in the backened.

This would mean if I add an additional extrafield to the group that is associated with hundreds of items, I need to save each of them?

Am I doing something wrong? Please advise.

Take a look at the k2 item table. You will see that the xtra fields are stored in one column in the table. There is no other way to include the new value except to update the row

Yes you need to update all of them. This is data and cannot be handled automatically.
