How can I organize k2 items so the newest items will appear on the first page instead of the last? In the default layout, the newest items show on the last page.

There should be an option in your Menu Manager that's pointed to your K2 Category

On the right hand side look for

Layout options for single category selection
Item ordering

And select "Most Recent First"
