How to replace featured Joomla articles with K2? was created by crazy
Hello K2
Awesome extension for joomla but I can't figure out how to replace the Joomla featured articles with the K2 featured articles.
I know this is possible because what I want to do is at the demo page of K2 ... demo.getk2.org/
I have attempted to create a new menu via menu manager and go to K2 and pick category and all others but I don't see my featured articles in that particular menu.
I'm at a lost how to display featured K2 articles in the frontpage of joomla. Please advise and thank you for your time.

Hi. You need to tell the category or the menu ( in case you have selected multiple categories ) to show only featured items.

Lefteris, can you please explain this a little bit more? New to Joomla and K2 and trying to do this but it is not working too well. The best I got in one of my practice sessions was all my contents displaying on the front page. Will appreciate some simple instructions on how to do this.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just wondering if you can shed some light on it if you were successful with it.
I am trying to do the same but drawing some blanks.
Thanks

You should look at
this
first, and possibly look also for a tutorial for Joomla! menus.

Thanks KB, they have nothing on using the featured article like I want to.
I have been able to set it up with some help but the only problem I have is that the Red Featured Icon shows up on every featured item.
I have 'Featured' notice (next to title) set to hide in the main category with the sub categories inheriting from the main but that is not helping. Here is a link to the site; www.lookupyoursite.com/
Will appreciate any suggestions.

You can either hide it from your category settings or remove the background image from your k2.css

Hi KB.
I am having a problem with removing the red "Featured" flag as well. I have found that once you switch it on (show), it won't go away. I have turned it off (hide), in the "Item view options in category listings", and in the "Item view options" in the Category. I have also over ridden the settings at the 'item' level just to be sure, and still it wants to display!
Removing it from the css file seems a little extreme as I may want it in the future!
Is the feature of displaying the featured a feature or a bug?

@Murray Deerbon
Hi. The option for hiding this is named "'Featured' notice (next to title)" and can be found at the category edit page. Ensure that:
1. You are editing the correct category.
2. The category is not inheriting settings from an other category.
3. You don't have any template overrides which may not apply this option.

The way I finally removed the feature item flag, was to actually take it off the item itself.
In the edit item, there is a radio button Featured No / Yes. By changing the Yes to a No, the flag went away.
This was 'my bad', so thank you for the help.
