How did you resolve it? I had the same problem and I am still stuck. I put another message under Installation Problems.

uninstall all,
clean temp,
install again,
purge cache,
clean cache

When I install from scratch (no K2)by uploading/installer 2.6.1.zip, I get an install error.

This time I do not get the error message you reported earlier, possibly because the component was not installed. I do get K2 in the Joomla backend, but when I click on a menu item, it says component not found. The database tables are there, but that is all. So what I will do is copying all K2 files manually, as I did last time.

Uninstalling is no option, because it cannot find the setup file.

I did what you said :

and it worked for some days but now that I want to start switching from zoo to k2 it doesn't work again:What should I do? is there any interference with some other extension, 'cause I've had that before with other extensions! help pls :blush:

No matter :cheer: I solved it ,, my k2 plugins were unpublished.
