I'm using Joomla 2.5.7 and K2 Version 2.6.1 and enabled front-end editing.

This was working fine when I installed it and I and another user have been updating existing K2 items using the front end UI from time to time.
This week discovered the edit form is displaying very strangely in all browsers - see attached images

• Editor icons do not appear
• Form elements are repeated nested inside of other elements
• The text "(teasercontent/update)" displayed following the label for the Intro text text area control
• Existing content shows with html tags - no toggle to regular display

There are multiple Save and Close buttons but cannot save any changes or new items

I have tried these things without success:

• Rename override folder for template to make sure it isn't an errror I introduced in my override
• Assign a different template to the page (Beez instead of the Rocket theme template I'm using
• Uninstall JCE editor since I installed that after installing K2
• Upgrade K2 to latest version

Searched forums here and saw similar problem mentioned but no solutions suggestion. In other posts see suggestion that Jscript conflict-mode or MooTools can cause issues with front-end editing but there was no detail about how to determine if that happening.
I do need front-end editing so have to drop K2 for the website if I don't get a solution. Meanwhile, display of the K2 items is no problem.
I can give admin access to see the problem is someone can help.

I'm not sure if this will help part of your problem, but I too once had a problem with multiple forms nesting inside one another on the front-end edit screen. I eventually discovered that it was a Modalizer plugin conflict. Do you have Modalizer installed? If so, try disabling that, if not then I'm not sure I'm afraid :(
