K2 Login Error was created by Speedman
Hi guys;

I have a web site www.tesetturdolabim.com/

with
Joomla 2.5.7
K2 v2.6.1
PHP 5.2.17

After upgrade to K2 v2.6.1
Users can't login or resgister on frontend with K2_user module.

When I use Joomla's core login module, users can login or register.
But When I use K2_Login module, after login page redirecting 404 page.

I looked to links of Login button's and found that URLs.

With joomla login module URL show
www.tesetturdolabim.com/component/users/?view=registration

But when I try to use K2 Login module URL show
www.tesetturdolabim.com/component/user/?view=registration

Different is user and users

Anyone can help me for solve that problem please?

Hi. There are some layout changes in K2 2.6.1. You need to update the overrides of the modules accordingly.

I am also having a 404 component not found issue after I updated the K2 extension. I can get into categories, modules, and articles but nothing from the K2 content/menus (404). I am sort of new to Joomla and K2 don't know whether this is a mod_k2_login issue or template override packages needed. Can anyone help?

Hi Jon,

here's another post about this:

For anyone facing these issues, there are some layout changes in K2 2.6 and 2.6.1 that are affecting the registration process. The files that are changed are the mod_k2_user layouts and the component register.php and profile.php layouts. You should update your templates according to the bundled files.

The three files you need to compare are in this package
getk2.org/blog/item/993-k2-v261-now-available

I'm just giving it a go now :)

Great, using winmerge I fixed register.php and now people can register.

I also merged profile.php but people still can't access their profiles - but things are improving!

I know this is a NewB question, but how do you change from mod_K2_login to mod_K2_user:

"1. The module mod_k2_login has been completely dropped from the K2 package. Use mod_k2_user instead. If you upgrade to K2 v2.6.1, you're mod_k2_login module will simply not work. So if you haven't already, do the switch now to mod_k2_user."

Most of my K2 function buttons result in the 404 error in the backend.

Are the override files just to be cut and pasted in the file structure of the template?

@Jon

Go to modules and create a new one. Then choose the K2 User module. Edit it's settings and publish it to the desired position as you would do with any module.
