how to remove "item" from k2 url was created by M@tin
I just want to know how to solve this K2 SEO problem. I want to make this site links from:
original: www.mydomain.com/category/item/1-seo-problem.html
to this one: www.mydomain.com/category/seo-problem.html
or www.mydomain.com/seo-problem.html
Can I do that? I want to remove the word "ITEM " and also the article ID which is 1.
thanks a ton in advance.

The quick and dirty way is to create a menu item in Joomla TO that K2 category and then create submenus pointing to specific items. If you want to do this for all items in K2, you should have a look at a SEF extension like sh404SEF, MijoSEF, AceSEF, ArtioSEF etc.

Hey Fotis,
If we do have shsef404, how would we remove "item" in the url?
Is it a long process for each item?.....or is there a way to make it so that "item" will be automatically removed.
Thanks!

Hi
I've the same problem! :(
Why no one answers this question in any site?! Is it impossible?!
Why K2 doesn't solve this?!

Sh404sef automatically renames the URL to a friendly URL .
So once installed it will change every thing for you with out you doing any thing. It makes your URL easy to read for google.
Sh404sef is great but can be a pain to configure as may conflict with 3 rd party modules. So make certain you test it on a test server first before going live.
Hope that makes sense

I have used sh404sef and yes it does remove the item prefix but the duplicate url / module problem causes way more headaches, I ended up doing the method suggested by Fotis Evangelou, which also makes assigning modules to menu items, much more precise.
