We managed to solve the problem with "share" button and we thank you for this.
but we still face the same problem with "Facebook Like" button.

The text which is publised on Facebook is the actual html code.

Also we face the same problem in another joomla 2.5.6 with k2 v2.6.1 installation.

We did check the view.html.php file (of the above latest k2 version) and we noticed that the code is different now.

Also in both k2 version the image of the item does NOT appears using either "share" and "Facebook Like" button.

Hi. K2 only provides a Facebook like button. This button works as it should for Greek characters in K2 2.6.2. So if you are facing issues with the like button update K2. The share button does not come from K2.

well the button does not work as it should
I am using k2 2.6.5 and i have issues with greek chars on the description of the item

i did the fix to comment out the following line
//$metaDescItem = htmlspecialchars($metaDescItem, ENT_QUOTES, 'UTF-8');

from components/com_k2/views/item/view.item

worked on one site but did not work on another

any more fixes that could be applied?

Hello Nikos,

I don't think there is a problem with your button.
I looked at your source code and all the text was converted to >Στην ελληνική μπύρα Volkan που, plus there appear to be inline styles in your fulltext which render like plain text and give you the impression that code is being rendered.

I think you should check your language settings or contact your hosting provider.

I can not find what is the problem

Posting to facebook articles that are created using the Joomla native article system is perfectly ok

Only on pages of K2 items i face the issue.

changed also the source file's encoding to utf-8 but have the same issue

any more ideas will be welcome

I also check the source of some of your com_content sections and your com_contact pages.
This issue is also present there. Make sure an extension is not causing this.

K2 is specifying the content that will be posted on facebook from your introtext using the og: tags. This is why you are under the impression that this issue is present only in K2.
